Now Showing: June at the Mall Cinema
WHAT’S WORTH YOUR POPCORN THIS MONTH
Disclosure Day
(Spielberg)
The man is 79 and still making the rest of Hollywood look lazy.
His latest is sci-fi, it’s in IMAX, and early buzz says it’s the alien movie we’ve been waiting for since we stopped trusting the franchise ones.
Go on opening night. Bring tissues or sunglasses. Probably both.
Toy Story 5
(Pixar)
The toys are back. This time they’re fighting screens and tablets for a child’s attention. Yes, the metaphor is obvious. Yes, you will cry anyway.
Pixar knows exactly what it’s doing and you will let them do it to you.
Again.
Couture
(Angelina Jolie)
Jolie plays a fashion designer in crisis during Paris Fashion Week.
It’s beautiful, it’s intense, it’s A24. The kind of film you watch and then immediately rethink your entire wardrobe.
Dangerous in a mall cinema.
Power Ballad
(Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas)
A feel-good musical from the director of Sing Street. Rudd plays a washed-up rocker. Jonas plays his protégé.
It’s warm, funny, and you’ll hum the soundtrack for weeks.
Summer comfort cinema at its finest.
